The Data Nutrition Project partnered with the Mozilla Data Collective to create Datasheets: The Missing Manual for your Dataset, an illustrated short video designed to make comprehensive dataset documentation more accessible and actionable for a broad audience. The video was illustrated by Jessica Yurkofsky and is hosted on the Mozilla Data Collective community portal alongside a collection of additional resources for thoughtful dataset documentation.
The video introduces viewers to the concept of the datasheet, a form of documentation that goes beyond standard metadata to capture the full context and story behind a dataset: why it was created, what it represents, and who might benefit from it. The project demonstrates how a well-crafted datasheet helps potential users determine whether a dataset is a good fit for their particular use case, ultimately pushing the broader AI ecosystem toward greater accountability.
